Olivia Osborne, Human Resources Manager at Traffix, has recently graduated from Solihull College, after successfully completing her Associate Diploma in People Management.
Olivia commented,
“It’s been extremely hard work, but totally worth it – I’m proud of my achievements and I have a more in-depth knowledge of all HR issues now which I can utilise within the business. I can bring more ideas to the table and work with the Directors to forge ahead with employee development.”
Olivia started her studies at Solihull College back in September 2020, when she enrolled on the Level 3 Certificate in Human Resources Practice. The day release course was assignment based and consisted of 7 modules, including rewards and practice, employment law and grievances. Her hard work paid off and she completed the course in June 2021, having achieved the highest possible grade, a Distinction.
However, this was just the start. With encouragement from Directors and other staff, as well as her family, Olivia made the decision to continue her studies. In September 2021 she enrolled onto the Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management.
This was a tough decision as it was quite a step up from Level 3 and involved an even bigger commitment from Olivia in terms of allocating a large part of her evenings and weekends to studying. However, she was determined to complete the course.
“I found the Level 5 course challenging but really useful; I brought a lot back from the course that we can put in place to strengthen our HR function. Employment law was my favourite module and also the biggest one – with a 3000-word assignment to complete. It’s such a broad area, covering everything from equality and diversity, grievances, policies and procedures through to Mental Health and wellbeing,”
Olivia successfully completed the course in June 2022 and received her Diploma in October at a graduation ceremony held at the National Motorcycle Museum. When asked about her achievements, Olivia commented
““It’s been very hard work, but I’m so thrilled to have achieved this and to be celebrating my graduation day. My family are extremely proud, as are my colleagues at Traffix. I knew it would be worth it in the end. I believe this qualification has helped me in my job – it’s provided reassurance for me that we are doing the right thing and following the correct procedures. Also, things change all the time in HR and employment practices, so keeping on top of it and implementing new things is key.”
“Traffix are great believers in people development, and now I feel even better equipped to work with the Directors to provide a first-class HR function for the business. I’m happy with what I’ve achieved to date, but who knows, maybe in a couple of years I’ll look into doing a Level 7 qualification!”
Stuart Morrisey, Managing Director at Traffix also commented on Olivia’s achievements,
“We are all very proud of Olivia’s professional HR qualifications and welcome employee development within the business, through further education or CPD – continuing professional development. Olivia has shown dedication and commitment to achieve these qualifications and we hope other members of staff may now follow suit. Acquiring greater knowledge and developing skills within the workforce can only be a good thing for any business.”
