We’ve been working closely with the careers progression department of Arrow Vale Academy, offering regular work experience opportunities for learners. We recently welcomed Year 10 student McKenzie Ostins to our Bickenhill HQ – McKenzie was eager to find out more about day-to-day operations at Traffix, and showed a particular interest in the events side of our business.
During his week with us McKenzie was given a thorough overview of what traffic management entails and spent time with our management team and directors, gaining a full grounding into the various industry sectors that we support.
Tasks that McKenzie carried out during the week included:
• Making signage for a local schools closure
• Organising operatives PPE
• Onsite work, including road closures and equipment management, for
the Foo Fighters concert at Villa Park
• Organising operatives time sheets
• Conducting interviews with key staff members
• Shadowing the management team during administrative meetings
• Assisting the operations team with resource management
• Gaining insight into the construction of HS2 in the region
• Producing an evidence portfolio of all work undertaken
We know that McKenzie gained a lot from his time with us, and particularly enjoyed his work with the signage team and his time spent onsite at Villa Park assisting operatives at an extremely busy event.
Traffix Health, Safety and Facilities Director Kerry Draper commented… “McKenzie excelled during his time with us, and his enthusiasm and attitude was great to see. He’s a credit to Arrow Vale Academy.”
