Following a national recommendation, Solihull Local Authority launched a Community Parent scheme back in November 2023. The scheme is based on four pillars: Home, Wellbeing, Education and Employment.
Traffix client Balfour Beatty have been extremely supportive of this scheme and invited us to help. We answered their call. Recently, two of our Traffic Operatives Lee Foster and Jamie Thompson redecorated a support home in readiness for a young person coming out of care.
Ricarda Norris, Business Improvement Lead for Solihull Local Authority commented: “We are extremely grateful that Traffix came forward as a valued partner to work alongside Balfour Beatty. The work they carried out means so much to our young person who is taking up residence. She is now looking for permanent employment and the confidence this has given her just knowing our community is supporting her is fantastic.
“This scheme is a meaningful way of delivering social value. We work closely with local businesses that are not just delivering services but making a meaningful impact socially and locally. We have matched young people to apprenticeships and integrated them into the community to be ‘set up for life’.”
Traffix Health, Safety and Facilities Director Kerry Draper added: “We were only too pleased to pick up the paint brushes and get stuck in. Whenever we can lend our support within our local communities we do it, it’s as simple as that.”
