Recently, we welcomed members of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Reserve Regiment (5RRF) from Sheldon, Birmingham, to our Bickenhill HQ and depot for a special engagement event designed to introduce employees to life as an Army Reservist and encourage greater awareness of the valuable role reservists play in society.
Building stronger links with the Armed Forces community
The event was organised following an approach by Traffix Operations Director Derek Vinning (Vinnie), who has a personal connection to military service.
After serving full-time in the British Army, Vinnie continued his military career as a reservist with the 5RRF. Drawing on his own experience, he wanted to create an opportunity for colleagues to learn first-hand about reserve service and the benefits it offers both individuals and employers.
Traffix is proud to employ former military personnel and current reservists across a variety of operational and leadership roles. Their skills, professionalism and commitment make an important contribution to the business every day.
A hands-on introduction to Army Reserve life
During the event, members of 5RRF transformed the Traffix car park into an interactive promotional hub.
Employees had the opportunity to explore:
- Modern military equipment and weaponry
- Army battledress and field equipment
- Ceremonial items, including regimental drums
- Informational displays about Army Reserve life
- Recruitment literature and guidance on joining
To encourage as many colleagues as possible to attend, Traffix hosted the event during the working day and provided food and light refreshments.
As employees returned to the depot throughout the day, many stopped to speak with serving reservists, ask questions and gain a better understanding of what serving in the Army Reserve involves.
The team from 5RRF reported significant interest from Traffix employees, with many taking away brochures to explore the opportunity further.
